A never-ending journey
It was that morning when we set sail to the sea. The air was misty and wet as it rained the night before. The sun had just awoken from its sleep. As it rose from its bed of clouds, its rays stretched from the North to the South, from the East to the West. The sea waves glistened like little glow-worms.
The ship was not like any other ships. Its body was made from hard wood, tough enough to withstand the cruel waves of the sea. The surrounding of the ship was dressed with moist, green moss. The sails were white with its pearly glaze. As much as we hoped for, there were no captains or pirates or any of his crews. There were no skeleton flags, cannons, gruesome dungeons or swords. There were only us, you and I.
The ship sailed by itself, guided from the zephyrs of the wind. When night started to cover its dark blanket over the sky, the sun descended. It gave a mighty, yet sleepy golden light just to greet us goodnight. Not long after, the sun sunk to the abyss of the sea. This time, the moon was seen, hanging with the dazzling stars in the sky. It felt as if we existed in another world, a whole new dimension. But the night did not just went by like that. The waves of the sea started to battle. As it continued to crash and roar, the clouds joined in to watch. There were applauses and encores of thunders and lightings.
Although there was so much happening, the ship stood still and calm. There were no waves that pushed the ship to cause a to-and-fro motion. Somehow, it felt like there was a force-field protecting us. It was like the gods above wanted no interference between you and me. As we watched the battle under the net of stars, the world started to blur and fade from our sight.
I felt a friendly, warm hug on the chilly morning. It was you. It was the early dawn of a brand new day. I stood and saw that the battle of the waves was over. I then had a moment of thought on who won. Suddenly, I felt a very protective grab at my waist. I heard your voice slipping through your lips saying, “Look! That’s us!” I followed the trace of your hand pointing forward.
I spotted two figures. They were not moving. They did not have eyes, lips, nose nor ears. They just stood still and stared right back at us. “Who are they?” I wondered.
It then dawned on me that it was us. It was you and I. It was our silhouette, framed to the surface of the sea. I then shifted my eyes to yours. Your eyes were shining with excitement, yet soft and warm. I smiled with relief. We watched the sun rise from the seabed, accompanied by the two figures, swaying with the waves.
